Education FPP

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”7641″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The Education FPP is the half yearly education program developed by Fundación para el Progreso in Santiago where you can acquire comprehensive knowledge on the ideas and principles supporting classic liberalism and how to implement it regarding the challenges currently faced by Chile and the world accompanied by FPP’s researchers and guest teachers.

The curriculum consists of four separate courses on economics, politics and institutions, culture and ethics, which are complemented with practical skills workshops, aimed at providing you with the tools and arguments required to develop your skills as an opinion leader.

Participants may complete the curriculum in a one academic year term.

Targeted to youngsters aged 16 to 30. Limited quota.

Duration: 10 weeks.

Applications: open in August 1 – 29, 2016.

Second semester beginning date: September 1st, 2016 (Update)

Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday from 18:00 to 19:30

Place: FPP, 10th Floor (La Concepción 191, 10th Floor).

Difficulty level: Basic – Intermediate.

Price: $10.000 (ten thousand Chilean pesos) the complete course.

Course 1: Society, socialism and capitalism.

Teacher: Fernando Claro V.

Schedule: Tuesday 18:00 – 19:00.

Description: Aimed at delivering the tools required to understand certain moral values of the liberal-capitalist economic system and to understand the view under which the Austrian School of Economics studies the economy. In addition, the liberal perspective will be contextualized in several issues currently being discussed in the country, like the educational and pension systems.

Course 2: Individuals and freedom in the contemporary culture

Teacher: Francisco Belmar Orrego

Schedule: Tuesday 18:00 – 19:00.

Description: This course discusses the problems resulting from concrete cultural expressions of the contemporary world (ethnic conflicts; artistic expression; globalization and the defense of freedom associated to social, sexual and gender inequalities) from the perspective of a free society and individual freedom.

Course 3: Ethic Basis of Liberty

Teacher: Jorge Gómez Arismendi

Schedule: Thursday 18:00 – 19:00.

Description: This course is aimed at encouraging a reflection regarding the ethic foundations from which liberal thinking was created, from which topics and issues that are currently affecting or concerning us may be discussed. That is, it essentially searches to promote the inclusion of liberal ethics in the Chilean contemporary public debate.

Course 4: Politics and liberal institutions

Teacher: Jean Masoliver

Schedule: Thursday, 18:00-19:00

Description: This course addresses the political issue from a liberal perspective, covering from Locke’s classic liberalism to contemporary theory formulations, especially discussing those social arrangements and debates that favor liberty in a better manner, providing youngsters with conceptual tools required to assess their surroundings and the political context at a local, national and international level.

An FPP researcher is in charge of each course and there will be guest teachers and academics.

Courses 1 & 2** – Tuesdays

Place: La Concepción 191, 10th Floor, Providencia, Santiago.

Dates: Every Tuesday since September 13th until the second week of November.

Time: 18:00 – 19:30

Courses 3 & 4** – Thursdays

Place: La Concepción 191, 10th Floor, Providencia, Santiago.

Dates: Every Thursday since September 15th until the second week of November.

Time: 18:00 – 19:30
